INVISALIGN®

Discreet, Comfortable Removable Clear Aligners

Feel comfortable & confident while achieving a beautiful smile

Why Choose Invisalign®?

Invisalign® clear aligners are an increasingly popular alternative to traditional wire braces. Unlike traditional braces, which are attached to the teeth for the entire duration of treatment, Invisalign® aligners are removable, allowing patients to maintain their usual dental hygiene routine during treatment without needing to work around metal brackets and wires. These aligners are also virtually invisible, made out of a clear polyurethane plastic that is designed to form perfectly to your teeth, allowing you to go about your day feeling comfortable and confident in your smile!

The Benefits of Invisalign®?

There are many advantages to choosing Invisalign® clear aligners. While traditional wire braces are common, effective and more comfortable than ever, Invisalign® provides patients with a virtually invisible alternative that is removable and represents the latest in orthodontic technology, letting you go about your daily life with comfort and confidence.

Advantages of the Invisalign® system:

Without the trays being adhered to your teeth, you have the option to remove them to eat, brush your teeth or enjoy special events.

Because Invisalign® is removable, you can simply take them out when brushing and flossing your teeth without needing to work around wires and brackets.

Invisalign® trays are completely clear and sit perfectly along your teeth, making them virtually invisible.

Since you’ll take out your aligners when you eat, you do not need to cut hard or sugary foods out of your diet, like you would for traditional wire braces.

Invisalign® trays are made of soft, flexible materials that don’t poke or rub uncomfortably against the soft tissues of your mouth.

For those who grind their teeth while they sleep, Invisalign® aligners can act as a very thin mouth guard, protecting your teeth from unnecessary wear.

How It Works

Though they may look different, Invisalign® aligners have the same purpose and end result as traditional wire braces. With either method, the treatment system slowly exerts pressure on the teeth, gently coaxing them into their proper alignment. Traditional braces do this with wires of varying strength and thickness, while Invisalign® does the same with a series of clear trays that get closer and closer to your perfect smile with each new set over the course of your treatment.

  • When you start treatment through Invisalign®, we will take a digital scan of your teeth to create a personalized treatment plan to take your smile from its current state to its ideal alignment.

  • Using the latest, cutting-edge technology, we create a step-by-step system of trays that will incrementally align your teeth with each new set of trays. Because of this, we’re often able to show you a predictive image of what your transformed smile will look like before you’ve even begun!

  • When your scan is complete and your treatment plan has been determined, you’ll be given a set of two clear aligner trays that attach to your teeth and can be removed to eat, brush your teeth and so on. Each set of trays is worn for two weeks, for a minimum of 20 hours a day, or as directed by your orthodontist.

The more diligent you are about keeping your aligners on when not eating and taking care of your dental hygiene, the more effective your aligners will be. After every two weeks, you’ll be given a new set of trays, one step closer to your perfect smile. This process will be repeated until your teeth are properly aligned.

Caring For Your Teeth During Aligner Treatment

Because Invisalign® clear aligners are removable, you can and should take them off to brush and floss your teeth twice a day. Just because you won’t have to work around metal wires or brackets doesn’t mean you can neglect to give your teeth and aligners their proper time and care!

When we eat, food particles can often get trapped in between our teeth or in the ridges along the surface of our back teeth. When you’re in the middle of Invisalign® treatment, placing your aligners on after eating without brushing and flossing your teeth can lock in those food particles, giving them the perfect opportunity to create harmful bacteria and plaque. That’s why it’s important to brush your teeth after every meal and snack to avoid developing tooth decay and gum disease.

The trays themselves will also need to be cleaned thoroughly and regularly to avoid discoloration, which can be done simply by brushing them with the leftover toothpaste on your toothbrush or with the help of cleaning solutions made specifically for dental and orthodontic appliances.

Is Invisalign® Right For You?

Clear aligners are a great alternative to wire or ceramic braces for those seeking the ultimate discreet orthodontic treatment experience. Their virtual invisibility and removability make them a popular option for adults and those teens who want the freedom to remove their aligners for short, special events such as picture day at school.

In the past, Invisalign® clear aligners were only recommended for those without any malocclusions in their bite. These malocclusions affect the relationship between your top and bottom teeth, forming common problems like an overbite or underbite. In traditional wire braces, elastic bands are attached to the top and bottom braces, gently exerting pressure on the teeth to move the jaws into their proper alignment. Because Invisalign® aligners fit snugly along the teeth without wire elastic hooks, they were not recommended for those with jaw malocclusions.

While those with significant malocclusions of their jaw may still be recommended for traditional or ceramic braces, Invisalign® aligners are now able to correct certain malocclusions just as effectively as wire braces!
